The only sewing techniques you'll need to know are how to sew a straight line using zig zag and straight stitch. Since it only takes the two stitches, you can make these using almost any inexpensive sewing machine.
The finished bags are roomy and attractive if you appreciate upcycled goods. The basic technique will also work for other projects.
I enjoyed it, the only thing that would have made it better was a gallery of other ideas and projects made with juice pouches or possibly a few more designs. A design for a clutch purse or a messenger bag be great.

I bought the electronic version of this book. The instructions are simple and easy to follow. I made the largest bag in the book in one day. However the book only has instructions for four projects. I would have liked to seen more. I still rate the book a 4 because of the good pictures and clarity in the instructions.
I must admit, I cannot sew. I do loads of other types of creative things, but my sewing knowledge is limited to stitching together strips of cloth (by hand, ugly, messy stitches designed only to hold them together) to weave rugs.
I was intrigued by the idea of this, making bags from juice pouches, both for the creativity angle, but also for the recycle factor.
The instructions are well listed, documented and SHOWN. If you can follow a sewing diagram, or even if you can't, there are pictures to show you exactly how to make several different kinds of bags from materials that would otherwise wind up in a landfill.

Cool ideas to upcycle! What a great way to save the planet and go green! This would be a good project to do with kids.
There is more in this book then we expected. Multiple bags all cool and easy to make, from a large one to a snack pack. The step by step instructions are well illustrated and easy to understand. We are now soliciting all of our friends and neighbors for their juice pouches so can make more bags. What a great idea for the project or craft days.
This is a lovely selection of patterns and ideas for making bags out of reusable materials, especially fun for kids to help make the type of grocery bags that many families use regularly. What pride and sense of accomplishment kids can have making these with their families ... and after that who knows what they will create!
I must say for someone who has never really had an interest in craft books this one has me hooked! The book itself is put together wonderfully, the pictures and step-by-step instructions make this environment friendly project so easy to do! Plus it's such a great summer activity to do with your kids or even by yourself, beingin a big family with lots of kids running around I know that Capri Suns are a MUST for hot summer days! So now instead of just having the empty pouches lying around the pool or throwing tons of them in the garbage, I can encourage the kids to save them and then in a few weeks we will have a fun project to do together! I give this book 5 stars it is for sure worth every penny! Couldn't have been more pleased!
